    Over boosting???

    How can I check if the wastegate is working? Can they get stuck? I was testing out the truck and it kept overboosting when it was suppost to be set at 12lbs, I would see 16 and even 19lbs of boost and the truck would bog down and backfire or make a poping sound. Checked that line that goes to the wastegate to the intake elbow and it seem fine. What should I check for?

    If it is a spring setting you might need to change to a lower psi spring. IF the gate gets stuck closed, boost will and can go way over. Pull the gate and see if you can push on the valve in the gate to open it. It might be really hard but it should move, if it does not take the thing apart and see if the valve moves. If yes, the gate is not stuck, install lower psi spring and try again.

    If using a boost controller turn it down all the way, or move the hose to help open the gate sooner, if the gate has dual ports..

    Many things can cuase this problem and it all has to do with that gate working properly.

    Well today I got the wastgate out and just tested with a air duster or those thinkg to clean computer keyboard and electrical stuff and it open, so I think its working good, I'll try and look for a vacuum leak and check it out, I'll put a new hose straight without the boost controller and it should be set at 10lbs as I had it before.

    Here is a pic of the boost controller that I have, so does anybody know if I blow air thru it and it should pass by it, cause if I do it seems block and don't know if its suppost to be that way.

    hey JJ,

    did anything change when you pullled the turbo?
    The boost controller you're showing is a very simply device that blocks the air pressure , which makes the wastegate stay shut longer.
    Turn it all the down so that the valve is allowing air to go through, then slowing start turning it the other way.

    The other option is to get a larger spring, and ditch the controller.

    let me know,

    I already found out the problem, the boost controller must be block somehow and it wasen't working, so I just put the line direct to the elbow and truck is working now, but now its hitting the rev limit. So I'll see you soon Allen for the retune and hopefully a 10 second pass.
