well i havnt been able to go to the track yet to see what my new times are, since putting the LS1 Fans on and getting the rebuilt bomb proof transmission put in, and messing with a few things with edit. but before all that happened i was runnin 15.44 @ 89mph.
well i run into an 03 5.3L rcsw silverado with fleetside bed. he ran pretty good i spotted him messin with a mustang and finally caught up with him. his exhaust was loud as hell. said he cut the cats out and was runnin 1 borla x something or another. well he showed me his ram air settup and a couple of other things. he said that he has his HPPIII set up and that no one could pull him in second gear. so i asked him what he was runnin at the track, and he said 14.8's. so i was like damn.
i got a little 4.8L and the last time i went to the track i was runnin 15.4's. well he had seen my truck on LS1TECH and had seen all that i had done to it and said there was know way i was runnin that time. i said yep. those are my times. well he kinda thought i was pulling his leg so i suggested we go run'em to see.(havnt found anybody to compare my truck too, untill tonight.) so we take them out on the street and i let it rip comin out of the turn and take off just to display. i bark 2nd and let off he catches up and we are cruisin down the street side by side. first time he was about a half of truck length on me. we both took off at a 35 drop and i stayed right next to him untill about 80. then we both let off to come up to a light. so we are sittin at the light waitin for it to turn green and he starts to stall his up. now i dont know if he had a stall or not, but i stalled mine up also. got mine up to around 2300. light turned green and i got the jump on him. we both went to about 80 again and when we let off his gas tank door was even with my door handles.
all in all. im very impressed with the way the truck ran. 5.3L regular cabs used to kick my a$$ all the time but not anymore... the guy had a very nice 03, his was the exception to them because i generally dont like the way they look. sounded good too.. well im getting 3.73 gears when i go to thunder shootout from amyracinhorse. so those will be going into my truck along with the eaton.
hopefully that will help my take offs a little better.
