Purchased LY6 and 6L90 for my swap

Well today I purchased a LY6 and 6L90 pull out combo for my 97 Silverado. I am sure to have a ton of questions as I go; but for starters ..

What motor mounts do you recommend?
Who would you recommend to rework the harness and ECM?

Excited and nervous about the whole process, any ideas/tips?
    Thanks!

Super nice score!! I hope you got the TCM with the trans. I know Chevrolade did a 90E conversion.
I'm sure Nelson can help with the harness and tune. Motormounts can be found off ebay.
Before you install it, I would recommend adding a converter. They are expensive for the 6spds but well worth it.
Also any plans for a VVT cam??

There are some threads on here with list of connectors/splice's/sensors you will need.

Curious about the converter.. Thought with the low gearing it would be ok. What am I overlooking? Thinking about maybe a Mast cam but nothing to radical. Do you have a recommendation?

Also looking at the -'Dirty Dingo' mounts; are most people going with a 1" setback? I know I will have to fabricate/modify a trans mount. I am also getting the trans yoke half of the 2 piece driveshaft and hope to splice that onto my existing shaft. Concerned with trans tunnel clearance also. From what I've read the 6L90 is 'taller' than the 4L60.. Guess I will see!

    Thanks for the reply

thats the same setup i have in my 08'...6.0 6l90 your going to love it!

yes get the dirty dingo mounts

get a custom harness from Allen @ nelson Performance, while your there he can hook u up with a custom grind cam...be your best bet right there.

you wont have any trans tunnel clearance problems.,u may need a new drive shaft and upgrade yokes and u joints

as for rear end gears ..go 373s they will be perfect.

and as for the stall...im running the stock stall and it still gets up and goes..thanks to the low first and 2nd gears...youll be fine..its gonna pull real good and great mpg at the same time

Yeah i was figuring a good mast or texas speed vvt cam. I was asking about the converter because since it's out you could put in a nice 26-2800 to help get everything moving.
Do you have plans on beefing up your rear end? I know the 6.2L trucks like mine, come from the factory with 14bolt rears and 33spline axels. That motor will be pushing some good power to get that truck scooting and the trans is very beefy and is sure to put some good strain on that 10bolt. It would be a good idea to look into some good gears and locker.

Take lots of pictures and keep us updated!

Thanks for the link! What do you think of their headers? Imagine they only work with their mount setup. Really like that trans crossmember, lots of room for pipes.
Already updated the rear diff with a Yukon Gear posi. Original carrier bearings gave up. Those stock positracs are real weak. The pinion shaft in mine was loose and pounded on the retaining bolt till it was worn in half. Maybe it was a good thing the bearings went first..
