I haven't been over here in a while but since I actually have a LS1 in the truck now, I though I would pop in and see what was going on.
The new/used motor has only been in the truck for two weeks now and I am still getting the tune dialed in but it seems to be doing very well. I ventalated the #5 cylinder on the 5.3L when a rod/piston let go in late Oct. I had originally planned on a LQ4 but the motor I got was quiet a bit out of spec so I sent it back and found an 01 LS1 longblock with 40K miles on if for about the same price as the 6.0 shortblock. Before putting it in the truck I topped it off with a FMS F10 (228/.576/114+4) and a set of ported 241 heads. Not 24 hours after getting it running I broke some teeth (4.5 to be exact) off one of the side gears in my Eaton Posi. Got that fixed last weekend and put my 02 PCM in on Monday. Since then it has been tunning, tunning and more tunning. I have yet to go WOT with it yet but from the few 'spirited' blasts I have done, it feels ALOT stronger than my h/c 5.3. Anywho.. I will be swinging in here more often now to shoot the breeze with and help out my LS1 Truck brethren.

I had to do something to keep up with you Kevin! It was obvious that the 5.3 wasnt getting into the 12's N/A with the setup it had. I think I might be able to hang now.

That sounds good ill bet you have to really hold back to keep from opening that thing up. When I first got my truck , it had 41 miles on it. I always heard that the first 1500-2000 are really important o the life of the engine. So the first 1700 miles..I didnt take off fast or go over 55 on the highway. It was hard though ..I had a 4.2L V6 f-150. That truck was cool but no power though. But I run my V8 sometimes just to feel the power. I love it ..but im working on getting more . Well anyways congrats on your new/old heart.
