    Driveshaft

Alright friends I'm in need of some help i've got a 2001 Chevy Silverado two wheel drive with a 4.8 i've got the two-piece driveshaft on it right now and I'm sick of changing you joints what can I put in exchange for that driveshaft as a one piece what will fit without heavy modifications i'm running a heavily modified 4L60e and it keeps eating u joints.

If you're buying joints from a parts store, that's why you keep replacing them. The tolerances on parts store joints are not very close and cause lots of failure issues. I worked at a driveline shop for 8 years. I've seen too many junky "new" parts house ujoints fail within a couple hundred miles. Autozone is the worst. Find true spicer non greasable ujoints and problem solved. You'll spend 30-60 bucks per ujoint but they'll last damn near forever.

Thanks for that info I just put my truck in the air and saw that the problem the prop shaft and tail shaft are bent which in my case that's what's causing the you joints to go out they had to of been bent in the car accidents this truck has a salvage title what I'm really looking for is to find out if I can replace that to be shaft with a single piece if there's any other drive shafts out there that interchange.

You probably won't find a factory one that is a direct fit 1 piece. If the length isn't too long you could have a custom shaft built. Just remember, the longer the tubing of your shaft, the weaker it becomes, unless using a thicker wall tube. .120 or .134 thickness preferably.

why not just go to a JY and grab a replacement from a truck that wasnt in a major accident? joints should still be pretty decent and the shafts shouldnt be bent. it would be a direct replacement so it would jsut bolt right in and your problem should be solved right? no need to mess with converting to one piece..

    ^ what he said

go to salvage yard get both shafts, replace what you have, should be good to go, crew cab aluminum shafts will work without cutting them, but are very weak, i'd keep what you have just get another 2 piece

try craigslist. gotta be someone parting that body style out somewhere.

or car-part.com inventory of junk yards.

or eBay if you have to

or take yours to a driveshaft shop and see if they can do anything with it

or give site sponsor driveshaft spealties a call. I'm sure they can hook you up.
