How can I tell what transmission I have in my 2013 5.3 liter Z71? I know is the 6 speed automatic, but is it a 6L80e or 6L90e? Also, in peoples opinions/facts, which is the better block? Cast iron or Aluminum?

Iron is less likely to flex under a boosted application compared to aluminum.

Ur truck has the 6L80e.
And which block material is better depends in how u look at it and is the block suitable for the application.
Aftermarket aluminum vs a stock 5.3 block vs an LSx iron block etc etc.
Gotcha! Won't be boosting or modding my engine in any way, so I guess it really doesn't matter. Thanks for the info.
