    New guy from KY need help with 5.3L

    Hey yall just signed up and looking for help. Im tryin to swap out my worn out 5.7L out of my 1990 Chevy 1500 and put in a 5.3L out of a 2000 Chevy Silverado. Im also wantin to do some upgrades along with it like electric fans and cold air intake nothing to crazy, but now im stuck on what kind of headers to use. Any ideas???

    I also used the f-body fans. Look at the first three topics here lots of answers.

    Hey thanks, I plan on keeping my 700R4 trans too. what the biggest difference I would see if I also swapped that out with the 4L60E

    Go with the 4l60e, it will make it easier. If you use the 4l60/700r4 you will then have to fabricate a knockdown cable bracket for the 4l60/700r4 since it is not electronically controlled.

    im not to concerned about fabricating a knockdown cable bracket for it, just curious to know if its worth shellin out a little more cash to change it out or not.

    It would be to your benefit to change it out, makes things a whole lot easier.

    im going to take your advice and put the 4L60E in it. do you have pics from your swap on the trans to show what you did? or is there much fabrication (if any at all) to do it? i have been looking for a thread on here to get some advice on it and havnt seem to find one yet.
