    horse power question for 5.3

    so i scored a 5.3 and 4l60e tranny out of a 2000 silvy.
    its going into my 1982 swb chevy going to be my street cruiser.
    i decided i think i would go with ls style swap i got a great deal on motor an trans.

    so ive been doing some research and trying to figure something out.
    i seen on nelson performance under customers rides on page two.
    there is a 2002 s-10 xtreme with a 5.3 swap in it
    apparently a board member owns it or did im not sure he he is still around.
    name is LS1-S10 an his toy is pumping out 491HP and 505TQ.

    now from what i understand this is a nelson tuned ecm.
    a Comp cams 216/220 .525/.532 114LSA
    2000 LS1 intake manifold and injectors
    underdrive pullys custom cold air intake
    Comp Cams 918's
    Comp Cams Hardened push tubes.
    sanderson 1.5 primary short tube headders.
    Custom 2.5" Y-pipe into single 3.5" through dynomax bullet and
    flowmaster 40 series
    MSD wires, NGK TR6 plugs
    ARP Rod Bolts
    Electric fans

    i understand the afermarket arp bolts in such
    im guessing not knowing the heads he has not swaped the heads
    this kind of power is possible without head sawp an stroking or boreing out of the 5.3s?

    guess they are not adding that in his specs then

    I don't think many 5.3s are over 425 let alone closing in on 500 without boost or spray. That cam is very tame even for a 5.3. What are you looking to get out of your build?

    to be honest when i get rdy to build it im looking for 400 to 420 without boost if possible. is it possible without a headswap?

    Befor I swapped heads I put 341 to the tires, prolly bout 370ish at the motor, that was cam, longtubes and nelson tune, CAI. Never got dynoed after doin a heads and intake swap but my time dropped 6/10ths. Its gonna be.tough to hit 400 with a stock headed 2000 5.3 newer ones not to hard but the old heads suck.

    i saw a guy on youtube run 11.59 with an all motor stock bottom end 5.3 in a silverado. what do you think the max a 5.3 all motor could push out hp wise without going crazy.

    stock bottom end with heads and fuel supply, i would say 1000 on the dyno
