    fuel pressure dropping

truck is a 1997 c1500, motor is a 2002 lq4 stock fuel rails, #60 injectors, brand new single 255 walbro pump with hotwire kit, new fuel filter.

when i fire the truck up it only primes to 50 ish psi, it doesnt change much when its running, but when i get on the gas it drops to at the lowest 25 psi, i've looked everywhere and see no leaks on the adapters from my old line to the fuel rails. i did take the fuel pressure regulator out once to make sure it didnt have any trash in it. could the regulator be bad?

i'm thinking i am just going to pull the bed tomorrow to make sure that nothing is loose on top of the tank and that the rubber hose hasnt ruptured. i checked voltage on the pump and it seemed fine i'll check it again when i pull the bed, it should be at 12v or greater right?

    any suggestions?

I will almost guarantee you the fuel line in the tank from the pump to the sender unit have a split. Some of the fuel pump kits come with some fuel line that is not rated to be submersed. I personally have helped fixed 3 different trucks that did not have a submersible fuel hose in the tank. One we replaced them with submersible fuel hose and high pressure fuel hose clamp never had any problems.

O'reilly's also sells it. If it is submersible it will say it on the hose, if it does not it is not submersible.

i found it on oreillys site, does anyone know of the top of their head what size that hose is? i'ld like to have it already rather then have to stop and go get it when i get the bed off lol.

i guess the line in tank makes sense since before i had a stock pump and an inline booster pump, so when i installed the walbro i removed the booster pump the line in the tank couldnt handle the entire load and revealed the leak. i just hope thats all it it lol.

well so much for oreillys they have to order it for $25 a foot and then it takes 5-7 business days and $7 freight.

i did have some luck though i remembered seeing a white plastic hose that came with the walbro and i'm glad i didnt throw it away.

isnt this the hose they recommend to use? the one on the right?

also it came with those crimp type clamps and i have no way to crimp them will the high pressure fuel hose clamps work or regular old worm clamps?
