    Alright, is this correct?

It has Silverado 4.8/5.3 listed there. Is there some way to remove the factory themostat from the housing and reinsert this one? Any help is much appreciated

I would order that I don't think that SLP's come with a new water neck but you should be able to unbolt it and take the stocker out and put that one in its place and be fine.

I don't think you can retrofit that into a an older water pump. They changed the water pumps in '04. I tried to put my 160 stat from my '00 motor in my new motor, and it wouldn't work.

GM ditched the housing and completey changed it in '04. I think T. Byrne has the one you're looking for, the one w/ the housing. The 160* tstat w/ e-fans is a nice setup.

i'd reccomend a 180* t-stat instead, otherwise even with e-fans, your t-stat is always going to be fully open and might not let cold collant into the engine since it will be flowing too fast.

I must not be following you. I have run cars in the past, when I've been in a pinch, WITHOUT t-stats. They stay REALLY cool, never getting above 110º or so. Ran fine, but it sucked in the winter, because the heat would never get hot.
