window help. its to cold outside!!!

i have a 99 chevy silverado with a 5.3. i was rolling the window down today and with about 6 inches left from being all the way down the window just fell. i took the door panel off and looked to see what was wrong. the cable that is on the motor was loose. idk how to tell if it is broken or not. it looks like a a nail kinda with the cable going thru it and the spring. is that the whole piece and where does it go. i called the chevy house and they want 180 for the motor and 190 to install it. i told them they can stick it uo there ass(:

that's enough rear end talk out of you! You can tell its broken because the window ''just fell''. if the motor still works you might not need to replace it. sounds more like the window regulator is bad, however you can buy the window regulator with motor and be better off in the long run. if you can get the door panel off then you can replace the reg. good luck

Reg with motor is $70-$100 depending on brand from parts store. Very easy to install in these trucks.
