Want to do a swap in the future, put in an LM7 into a 88-98 Chevy or GMC truck. What service manual do I need to get for these engines? I need one in case I get a "check engine light" or need to do some maintenence in the future. Plus I need a diagram of where all the smog equipment is on these engines, I live in California, the smog state.

Get one for the vehicle it is going in. And one for the year of the donor vehicle, if you want too. A lot of the info for the Gen III/IV is available online, just takes some searching. When I did my swap, I got the books for the 1990 truck and the books for the 2002 Camaro. The truck books I really needed, and could have done the swap without the Camaro books but I just wanted to have them for easier quicker reference. Also look on ebay, they are there and a little cheaper. Hope this helps.
