Engine builders come inside.... I done SCREWED UP lol

    http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/genera...ders-come.html
Welp just about got down to the great part of putting the rings on the pistons. It crossed my mind that I didnt know how to stagger the rings... well while looking for the answer online I tripped upon this... Turns out I THINK i put a few tangs in wrong in the block on the crank... So I haft to re pull it apart and correct this issue. Also when I pulled apart the motor ORIGINALLy all my numbers on the main bearing caps were on the right side i thought reading them from the FRONT of the motor with 5 opposite. This claims it should be the opposite. Will someone PLEASE look over this link and tell me if I need to go by this.

Is that with the motor turned with the crank facing upwards? Just to make 100percent sure. If so your saying the numbers should be on the number 2 cylinder side except for number 5 which is on the number 1 side. And could you please check if your numbers are facing so you can read them from the front of the motor or the back?

That is with the crank facing up and all the numbers on this motor are at different angles..but when looking at the bottom of the engine from the back all the numbers should be on the driver side of the motor except #5 it's on the passenger side..Also on #1-#4 cap all have the flat side toward the front and #5 has the flat side towards the back

Just tore down a 5.3 last night. I have to confirm what danger ranger has said. #5 cap has the flat side to the rear.
