    80e questions.

My 5 speed isn't gonna handle the abuse long, and if it does it doesn't shift above 5000 anyway. T-56 is cool, but lets face it, $2500 for a trans and $1000 for a decent clutch and flywheel goes a long way towards a decent converter and 80e. So I'm going auto, as far as the actual swap I don't think it's a big deal, my V8 harness came from an auto truck, and I've kept it that way. My question is there anything in the BCM of the 5speed truck that might sneak up on me? I've read that getting the tow/haul to work can be a pain in the ass but can't find anymore on it.

Great question, I have absolutely no idea. I would like to know what's involved though.

If youre swapping the whole engine harness to an auto then it would be a simple reflash of you PCM and segment swap to get the 80e running right. Youll just have to add the input shaft speed sensor with the two wires for it ran to the PCM(I forget the two pins). Vanillagorilla on PT should be able to tell you what you need as he has swapped from auto to manual and back to auto as far as what needs to be done BCM wise. I dont erally think youll have to do anything BCM wise though since the actual controlling of the trans is done through the PCM.

i would deff see problems with the bcm, you are going to have to swap over a gauge cluster and all that so you have the numbers on the dash, mic did do a 5 speed to 80e swap but he is using a b&m shifter thingy in the center. I think it would be alot easier and cooler to look into a manual valve body or so you can run a ratchet shifter or something

Auto cluster will work in a manual truck just fine, did it with a buddys truck when his took a shit, I had the stock one out of my 01 and it worked fine. Only problem i see with this swap is the column shifter. I dont know how that works or plugs in.

I'll be going with a floor shifter and using my same cluster. Manual valve body is outta the question, that's just annoying in a DD
