Pros and cons somewhat depends on how you use the truck, and what you're wanting. If you like towing big loads at low rpm, then for low elevation use an LQ4, at high elevation use an LQ9, or better yet, put #243 or #799 heads on the LQ4. If you want to add boost, like turbocharging, then go LQ4. If you just want to race between stoplights, then start with the L92. The L92 has less low-rpm torque than the LQ9. The defecit at 1500 rpm is 30 ft-lbs. But if you're gonna buy a 4400-stall converter, then that won't matter to you.

v8 to v8 is easy, I swapped from v6 which takes a bit more work. If its already a v8 and you have someone that knows what they're doing, should only take a couple days max. If you're going stock block and rotating, the 4 is lower compression so that maybe a better option, people claim they have weaker rods than an Lq9, which they might, but seem to take a lot of abuse. Pretty much you can learn most of what you're asking by just searching old threads. .

What year is your truck? As far as I know, the L92s only come in a 58 tooth reluctor configuration, which means unless you have an 07+ you will have to swap the cranks or buy a finiky converter box. The biggest difference between the lq4/lq9 and the l92 is the intake a heads. And the only difference between lq4 and lq9 is the the lq4 has dished pistons so a slightly lower compression ratio. But basically, they are all pretty similiar and I doubt you would be able to identify driving them back to back.

get a 04-06 lq4 they have the nice rods, compression is a little low imo but you can always have the heads worked and miled. as far as the short block goes you can put new bearings and rings in at race clearences. now for procharger vs turbo (i would never ever put a roots style blower on anything i own) id go turbo. you can change boost settings on the fly and upgrading turbos is alot less cash than upgrading a procharger. as far as how hard the swap is, it would almost be like pulling ur 5.3 out and putting it back in

ok cool, so ill deff go the laq4 route then, and i havent bought the truck yet kinda weighing my options, im pretty sure im gunna get a 03 single cab short bed tho.... first year with that body style, and there not to pricey, as far as boost, i've always wanted a turbo just everyone around here says got pro charger and not have to worry about anything so i was kinda cought in the middle between the 2

The intake and heads are the same LQ4 (except the iron headed LQ4) vs LQ9, but you are right about the pistons.

###now I see you were saying vs. L92.....my bad...carry on.
