    ABS wiring

So my '06 GMC Sierra 1500 WT was built with rear drums, and now I have installed a better rear axle assembly, with rear discs. I then was informed that both types use the same master cylinder, just different ABS modules, which are responsible for the proportioning.
I then went to the salvage yard, and found a '99 or '00 Silverado 1500 with factory 4 wheel discs. I took that ABS module, including the last 2 inches of wiring, with the connectors.
I then get told that the proportioning valve screws in. I just discovered that to be untrue.
So, I was comparing the salvaged one to my '06, and the 06 has a 20-pin connector, while the other has a 16 pin.
am I doomed to a lot of splicing, or does anyone have any better idea?

    Are you having braking issues?

My 99 Silverado had ABS Prop valve and 4 wheel disc, WITH NO external prop valve.

Now, my 04 Sierra has ABS Prop valve and 4 wheel disc, WITH a external prop valve.

If you don't care for ABS (like me) just buy a aftermarket prop valve and eliminate the ABS computer prop valve under the cab. Pull the fuse, and no light. (I had to do this for the solid axle swap on the 99)

I really want to keep the ABS fully functional, and I need full rear pressure. Drums lock at about half the pressure of discs, and I'm afraid the new pads won't even "bed in" at half pressure. I don't want them to glaze.

I found some info at the public library in the reference books that can't be checked out, those huge MOTOR / CHILTON books, but not enough. Why the hell do I need to use a tech 2 scan tool to re-bleed the brakes? And tell it the new gearing? Maddeningly stupid. Either it's getting a pulse signal, meaning the tires are still turning, or the pulse tops, meaning lockup.Even so, there's NO sense in having to use the scan tool for simple bleeding. Cursed GM deserved bankruptcy. Shoulda stayed under, too.
