Smile PerformaBuilt Trans . and stall ?'s

i finally broke the 60e in my tank of a truck, its a long story but reverse is hit and miss but mostly miss. So, my question is, will buying a Performa Built trans. be money well spent? First i was thinking about a mad dog rebuild kit, then a 80e swap, now with my new job and shift at the dairy i have no time for anything but a direct swap. my avalanche has 3.73 gears, procharger, and i have a z06 cam but have not had a chance to put it in. in the near future i have some ideas floating around about a motor build (5.3 with ls6 rotating assembly, stroked 6.0, ??). I dont want to have a lot of down time pulling broke transmissions every other month so i want one that will hold up, Preformabuilt? i am looking at the performance level 2, if i get good feedback, i have the cash and will give PerformaBuilt a call tuesday.
Next i have no clue what stall to get, i drive the truck every day, i take it on long trips (6+ hours) i live in indiana so its drove in snow, and on ocassion the avalanche has a boat or a trailer behind it. i have never had a stall converter and i was thinking the 1800-2000 but everyone says go with the 2300-2500, what are the pros and cons of a higher stall?
i also heard we get a ls1truck discount from performabuilt, is that true? thanks

i dont know about the discount but Frank at PBuilt is a cool guy and will answer any questions you may have.

also look into Skeet's truck, he has a PB lvl 2 and its running 11.02 (just made that pass this weekend) its over 2yrs old. 2 of my friends just bought PB lvl 2s with Billet 3400 converters with no regrets.

if i was you id go with a 2600-2800 converter or even a 3000! the 10.5" will pull just fine but being a tighter converter you'll lose a little rpm at the track but DD wise it'll be ok.

im N/A so i cant say too much about the converter. i run a PI3600 in my CC and i DD it, my fiance' drives it with no complaints other than it feels faster lol.

well i pulled the trigger yesterday and got a PerformaBuilt level 2 with a 2500 stall. when i get it bolted it the tupperware truck i will make a new post and maby post a video. the only thing i regret is not getting the truck to the track before the mods and the trans to have some #'s to compare.
