71 chevy 5.3 electrical wiring questions

Hello, I put an 01 5.3 n my truck and am going with the stock ls harness. On a budget. I have a manual trans, nv4500. A work truck. Do I use the starter wires from the 71 or use the ls harness? How about the ac? I plan to go with the round Vdo gauges , and how do I wire them up? I will mount the ls computer in the stock location. Will I need another fuse block? Is there any info on this that someone has posted? Thanks for everyones help, past & present. Alan

when i got my stock harness reworked NP left the starter wires in the harness and those are the ones im using. also you wont need to use the factory huge fuse box they added a fuse block and relays. give nelson performance a call they will set you up. they reworked my harness and took the problem out of my hands. heres a link Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability
