6.0 swap

Guys im looking at doing a 6.0 swap into my 96 chevy and i was wondering do i ned the 6.0 computer or should i get a car ls1 computer i plan on putting on new heads right off the bat and am wanting to run an auto should i go 4l60 or 4l80?? i know the 6.0 comes witha 4l80 normally. thanks

there's really no benefit going with the ls1 computer, the truck harness and camaro harness are a tad different, so whatever harness you decide to use, make sure the pcm matches it.
the 6L will make your truck move pretty damn good, depending how much power you plan to put to the ground will determine the tranny you'll need.
if it's just heads and exhaust, or so, the 60E will do, but get it built a little bit.

thanks allen i found a used 6.0 engine tranny ecu and harness from a local salvage yard for 2300 i would say thats a damn good deal and it comes witha 4l80 i also have a 150shot i am planning on instlalling btw how much of a b!tch is this swap?? is itsomthing i wanna tackle or have someone do it? do you know any shops that will?

Holy cow! that's a great deal, snap it up! What's it out of, you are going to want a 01+ for the al heads. Man, that's a great deal. I have to start looking around. Is that 2300 with them taking your engine and tranny?

Get the engine, it is a great deal.

To get started, get the engine mounts made up and get the engine in there, that's half the battle (once you get the engine that is)
Then adjust your crossmember if you have too, the 80E is longer so i'm sure you'll have to.
Then the wiring; get you a dynatech harness or splice it yourself.
You'll need a custom driveshaft, i recommend denny's driveshafts.
You're shifter is another thing you'll have to come up with, you going floor shifter or stock column shifter?
Intake tubing is pretty easy, i found my parts at airflowonline.com, i think.
The stock clutch fan is just fine, get what you need, wait later until the things you want, that'll make the install easier.

the engine is without a core its badass and its an 01 so i am getting the good heads acually i am wanting to put patriot perf heads on so i may be getting rid of them but i dont know yet.

How is the swap coming along? Any pictures? I am planning to do the 6 liter swap in my 99 hopefully next winter, if I can get my funds up and ready.

Have any of you guys heard of www.car-part.com ? I have gotten four motors from the use of that site really cheap.
