What Headers Will Work On An Obs?

I know a lot of discussion has been done about this but I couldnt find much definate into which ones will fit and which ones will not and why.

The swap headers that Schoenfeld Headers makes are very nice and fit well after they re-designed them.

But what about the Camaro longtube headers that are sold on eBay or the Pace Setter brand headers for a Camaro or even a 99-Up NBS truck; will they work? If not what do they interfere with?

I even thought about shortie swap headers but didnt know if they interfere with much on this body style either.

Shorties would just be a waste. I don't know of anyone that has used the camaro headers... so I'd say just try it if you want. If you can make a long bed into a short bed, I'm sure you could make the maro headers work lol

If the Schoenfelds work then why bother with anything else? They are cheap, good quality, and perform well so why go with anything else?

OBS big block truck headers work if you cut off the gen 1 flange and use a lsx style flange in its place. I'm with Will though...Schoenfeld all the way!

I just thought if I could get a set of stainless Camaro longtubes for cheaper than I would do that.

If you can find a deal on some then that's great but the Schoenfeld set is only $250.......that's pretty cheap. Cheaper than any 5.3 longtube truck headers I've heard of. My buddy has a set of shorties on his 99 5.3 and they cost him $750! :0

I have a couple of questions about these header's also, I am thinking about buying a set but I am unsure of a couple of things. First off, has anyone who is running these noticed any loss of low end torque because of how large the primary tubes are, I researched a lot about header's for a gen 1 motor before I did this swap, and I know the primary size really can make a difference in torque down low. Second question is about their high temp coating they offer is it worth it, I at least would want them to be painted with good quality high temp paint, as this truck will see lot's of shows. Thanks in advance.

I used them when I did my swap and couldn't feel any lack of bottom end power. I can't really say how they compare to manifolds or smaller tube headers as how they're all I've ran on it. If I buy another set they will definitly be coated, the paint that comes on them will be half worn off before they ever leave the box they're shipped in. I'm planning on having jet hot coat mine while the trucks torn down.
