It will work if you change some other things.
You would be better off to find a LS6 though.

better off with stock intake than either ls1 or ls6. People that have done swap including myself got minimal gains. Not worth the hassle IMO.

He didn't say why he was switching. He may need the hood clearance.

Hood clearance is the reason for the switch. Otherwise, i agree, not worth it. So i have never heard that the ls6 is a better choice then the ls1 intake. What makes the ls6 better? Or perhaps you could give me some search tips cause im really not havin alot of luck!

    intake

you will loose power with the ls1 the ls6 and truck intakes are close Never researched out all the differances but its been talked about much for years, hence the reason ls6 intakes are 300 + and ls1s are dirt cheap Im not positive but i think that the ls6 accepts a larger tb.

LS6 and Ls1 use the same size TBs. LS2 uses a larger one.

So is there really a big enough difference to justify the extra money? If we are talking a 10hp difference in peakHP then i think i can deal with it for the money savings. Is there any other reasons why ls6 is better?

It's not a peak HP difference. I think the big deal is the difference in HP across the board.
I wouldn't cheap out on it. You are putting in a 6.0 not a 4.8, tells me you want the performance.

Well Its going in a jeep cherokee that originally had the 4.0l. At any rate the V8 will be an improvement! Im thinking that due to the cost difference i may just be forced to go the ls1 route. Not ideal i know but i think its whats bets for me and my buddy who are doing the swap. Not doing it for improved looks or performance but for packaging. If we loose 10 hp accross the board then thats a hit we have to take. And my poor buddy who is funding the project already has over 5 grand into parts as it is and running out of money. So if the LS1 gets it done for approx $300 less then i think thats what has to happen. Unfortunate i know, but hey, at least this way we can do an intake/cam upgrade later on!

p.s. We started this with intentions of a 5.3 but found a 500 mile LQ4 for a grand so we went with it.
