    Gear swap weekend

Dude--what a whip in the arse this weekend was...

Friday night started out with a friend of my boss's wife--her 03 Z71 with 198k miles was running rough and stumbling at low rpms... She had taken the truck to several shops around the area and spent several thousand dollars trying to get it to run decent. Well, the problem was that she hadn't taken it to Dale and I! Long story short, we did our little adjustments--and without a tune, it will ROAST the rear tires...I know, trust me. Also fixed her horn so that she can get it inspected. HAHHA, funny story to that--she had tried to get it fixed 3 times, and 3 new horns...but still wouldn't work. I went straight to the underhood fuse panel and replced the 15 amp fuse...

SO Saturday rolls around and we get Nick's truck (B.O.H.I.C.A.) 3.23s out and set some 3.73s in there. He also installed a CAI--and WOW--the CAI and gears woke his truck up!!! It freakin hauls asp now. He is ordering a set of LTS and ORY this next week. He also is looking into a 85mm TB, pulleys, etc. He already has a 3000 stall and 216/220 .525/.535 114 LSA cam.

And today we did Virgil's gears. He switched from the 4.10s to the 3.23s. Everything went well (except for O'Reilly's giving us the wrong bearings) and his rear end was setup nice and tight.

    Here's some pics:

I used Dale's toothbrush to put on the mustard to check the wear patterns as we set up the gears...

Spinning the yoke to smear (that is a gross word) the mustard to check the wear patterns...

And look! The coast pattern looks good...

..and the drive pattern looks good...

AND SUCCESS! Gears were set up perfect the first time! High Five Dale! Oh, and you also get to see my SUPER SEXY legs... Garrisson, stop drooling please.

The gears and TrueTrac are in! Yay--Virgil gets to go home and sleep...

And I am ready to get out from under Clifford....

Well girls, there you have it. Two successful gears swaps in a weekend. I hope these kids are ready for Ennis.
