which of these should be done on a bolt on 5.3 "with maybe a cam later"
    while not pulling the trans?
    and with stock stall

3 - Throw away the "load release" springs out of the 3-4 clutch pack.
5 - Toss check ball from: input shaft, No 5, and No 3.
    6 - Block the 4th accumulator
7 - Ditch the servo check ball and capsule from case, install a cup plug in place.
8- Sonnax HD 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator springs - Helps with the 1-2 upshift and 3-4 upshift.
9- Sonnax Pinless Aluminum Forward Accumulator - Stock can be plastic, this is pinless
10-Sonnax Pinless Aluminum 1-2, 3-4 Acuumulator - Stock is usually plastic, cracks, loses pressure.
11- Sonnax Servo Release Check Valve - Limits 3-2 downshift tieup/burning
12-Sonnax Fwd/Rev Abuse Bore Plug - Prevents burning of the clutch packs and band
13- Sonnax Stator Support Shaft - More flow to the 3-4 clutch pack and prevents converter overheat...you may or may not need this.
14 TransGo shift kit - .500 boost valve, HO Pump Spring, 1-2 accum spring, fixes problems like...3-4 burnup, 2-3 overlap, delay bangs, poor 3-2 kickdown, etc. PSK or HD2 kits.
15 Superior Intermediate Super Servo - greater band holding power, much better 2-3 shifts, excellent 1-2 shifts, 35% more apply than 'Vette servo
16 Superior Overdrive Super Servo - greater holding power in 4th, much better 3-4 shifts, 50% more apply than OE part, comes with billet cover too

Well what's your budget for parts?

Most of those help to prevent problems and increase fluid flow. The Sonnax parts are around $10 or less most cases.

Tossing check balls is up to you, tossing some prevent hydraulic leaks, others increase TCC lockup, one eliminates delay from switching between forward and reverse gears.

The billet servos increase holding capacity of the 2-4 band by a great deal also.

I could spend up to $800
really I would just like to know what could be done without removing the trans.
I plan on installing the transgo and vette servo and billet OD servo.
What else should I do while the pan is off?
and how will it hold up to a NA bolt on 5.3with maybe a cam later?

    thanx

You're on the right track with the TransGo and the servos. Almost all the Sonnax stuff I listed goes in with the tranny in the truck.

The pinless accumulators prevent leaks and pressure loss, and won't crack like the plastic ones will.

That servo release check valve helps prevent tie up of the 3-2 down shift.

A heavier 3-4 accumulator spring helps to firm up the 3-4 shift

You should hold up fine N/A and with a cam only. I'm installing a cam here soon also. I haven't had any Torque Managment in a long time either, so I'm not too worried about that.

I thought the forward was the 1-2. I guess not. Which is the one that really needs to be changed?

The forward accumulator is inside the rear part of the valve body.

The 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators are in a cup looking part that houses them that bolts to the case.

    Hope that helps...
