I have leads on both these converters...I don't tow a damn thing. The Yank is an 11" ~2.2 STR and 3000rpm stall...the PI is a 9.5" 3200rpm stall, MULTI clutch ~2.55 STR.

Which would you go with? I'm leaning more toward that PI now as it's simply a better unit!

    Greenmachine...you're Moregrip right?

Well I've used a PI in the past in a Ford tranny...worked great. The PI is simply a better unit also in build construction, I've always said that even over there also. Small diameter is less rotating mass, it's made of a billet steel cover, higher STR, etc, etc.

I'm just wondering if it will be too loose for me...

It was built for an LS1 motor (more cubes, more comp than my 5.3) so the stall rating on it was 3200 for the LS1..I'm thinking it will be between 2800-3000 as I have less power but still quite a bit of weight.

    yeah brother GreenMachine/moregrip.

billet steel is nice, i liken that. maybe the long term evolution of your engine might help you decide? if it is 2800-3000, I'm guessing it won't be to loose for you, although it might be a little jumpy right, are you smooth on the gas?

Okay cool, good to see ya around other than Tech too.

Yeah 2800-3200 would be fine with me, the other PI I ran was rated at a 2800rpm and stalled to ~3K in a 4500lbs car all motor...nitrous flashes were like 3600 I recall. So I'm used to looseness.

The quality of the unit is better for sure, I'm almost certain I'm going with that PI. I am gonna sleep on it for a few hours tonight and then decide in the morning.

With the higher stall it's going to take a bit more RPM to get the truck to move...not too much as my city RPM from a dead stop are about 2300 1-2 and 2300 2-3 ( I do not use OD in the city, extra wear on the 2-4 band and I'm only goin a max of 50mph lol) I honestly do not think it will be bad.

I have all my valve body parts (few more) here at the house and a fat B&M cooler too.

Long term I am thinking on a 6.0 HO, mild cleaning of the heads, prolly same cam I have now (218/222) or a better single pattern for NA, and some headers. That should lay down 380-410rwhp I'd think...about the limits I'd safely push a 4L60E also.

If I do end up going to a bigger 4L80E, I'd probably do something to have a larger motor vs the 6.0 HO.

Go for the highest stall you can stand! You will love that 3200.

Going by the specs you posted, the PI will be better performance wise however I am completely satisfied with my TT3000. They are both very good units. As you know, Vigs tend to stall a little higher than thier ratings. Eventhough you may have slightly less power, the weight of your truck is going to make the converter seem looser and stall higher than in a car. Good luck on your decision.

go for the PI. higher str helps a lot, and you ge tthe higher stall speed as a plus!

dont some companies let you send em back for a free re-stall within a certain timeframe?
