    Oil in coolant reservoir

    Hey guys,

Well today i was checking my truck over before i headed out for SAR this weekend everything was going good untill i poped my coolant cap. It was coated with oil and was all on top of the coolant surface.

Im pretty sure this means i have a leaking/blown head gasket. My question is could i possibly still go to SAR? I really doubt ill have enough time to do a head gasket swap before then. Also would anyone know the cause of this? or what could have been done to prevent this? Thanks alot

so bout hundred bucks into it. good luck tho.. do leak down test beore you tear **** apart. leakdown test will let you knw if you have a bad gasket. if you dont have a leak down then just put air into each cylinder with the valves closed and cylinder on compression stroke. open rad cap and listen for bumbling or watch for bumbles. if you see nothing then chances are oil resivor if using one

to blow a MLS gasket is almost impossible. these gaskets dont blow out like a graphite gasket they just lift. sometimes if installed wrong they do leak but never once seen one blown and i watch FI section constantly.

dman hope it all works out for ya, btw your driving there? you traveling alone cause you know thats not healthy. for price of gas i could tow your truck there and ensure that you dont hurt it along way so you can run lol

Me and my friend are going there(the guy with me at the track when i meet you he had a 05 CC Silverado) hes going to tow me there to save on gas. Do you think it would be ok to race anyways? Ill probly change my oil right when i get there just for reasurance.

Ehh... depressing im debating buying new head bolts and just replacing the old ones while the head is still on. Cause i reused my old stock head bolts and didnt torque them down to specs because i was scared to break one. I can see the leaks on the passenger side so i know which head gasket is leaking. Would this maybe work?

or go to dealership get factory gasket and head bolts and worry about spending the money on arp's later when you do nitrous or forced induction
