If you're just asking about just getting the code from you ecm, yeah they can do that. I've done it a few times at advanced.

Yeah you could definitely do it youself. Actually did mine back in october. They sit under the intake manifold.. and there's two of them.

It wasn't too bad. And when you pull it all apart, you may find you need to replace your knock sensor wire harness. Your truck is a 2000 i would say replace it, my 99 knock wire harness was kind of brittle, and broke when I pulled it off. You might even need intake gaskets, they are reusable, but mine were toast were stuck the the intake.

When it was all said and done, it cost me about 200 or so ,that includes computer time and something I broke.. sensors ($40 each), wire harness (about $45), intake gaskets (about $30), fuel line puller ($6) (3/8)

Next time you have a code let me know I can scan it for you with either my plx gauge or my OBDII Scanner. Autozone here sometimes takes forever to scan stuff they are lazy

Should be ok... When mine went bad the code would come and go for a few days at a time. Then when the code finally stayed on it took me another week or so to get the time to do it, haven't had any problems.

Only reason I jumped on doing mine are the amount of miles on my engine.

Knowing the code is 1/10th the way to a fix in most cases although the advice in this topic looks OK. Replace both sensors, the harness, and the intake gaskets IF the wiring and PCM are OK.

    Do a search.
