    Pl4yboy's Garage

Figured I've been on this site for years and haven't done this yet. Might as well do it now since I just picked up the new truck.

We'll start 4 years ago. Spent 4 years building this truck from the ground up.

    1969 Chevrolet C/10

First motor was a very solid 355 in front of a TH400 and 3.73s. That motor mysteriously blew after a couple of years (camshaft shattered into pieces destroying the block). It was replaced with a 290hp crate from SDPC.

After a year or so of DD'ing that truck, I needed something more reliable so I purchased this little 07 4.8 4x4. Didn't do a single thing to it other than wheels, tires, and a super 40. My sister moved back in with us and needed something to drive so my father took over the payments and bought it for her.

I finished my second year of college and was going to be driving 3 hours each way to Oklahoma State so I sold the 69 (took a 10k hit on that one) and bought the 08 RCSB. I bought the 08 for $18k with 5k miles on it. Drove it for 30k more before I totaled it. You all know the story on it. 5.3, tune, bolt ons, 150 shot. Never did get a time slip with that truck but it ran great from a roll.

Swapped the ugly 20s off and bought some 17" stockers with Toyo Proxies

I was coming home from a friends at 12:15am Thanksgiving morning. I had intentionally not drank because I knew I had a 40 minute drive home. I was the DD. I was less than a mile from my house and came around a blind corner and met a car head on. It was either hit them or jump a 15 foot embankment into a ditch full of trees. I picked the ditch. The other car didn't even swerve or stop to see if I was okay. I assume they were drunk and scared. Totaled.

After a month of fighting with insurance, we settled on a number better than what I paid for the truck (much better). They also let me take everything I had added onto the truck, but I had to give them back a set of stock manifolds and leave the exhaust. Last week I began looking for a truck. On 12/17 I took delivery of my new ride.

    2010 Crew Cab LT Z71
    6.2l, 6l80e, 4x4
Color matched spray in bed liner
    2200 miles on delivery

    Price tag: $30000 even.

This is it 3 minutes after signing the draft. I found the truck in Chickasha, OK, 3 hours from me. I convinced them to meet me halfway to pick up the truck.

And this is the truck this morning while helping Bomichael swap wheels.

The tune is in progress at the moment. It should be done in the next couple of days. Monday it will get the headers from the 08. The MAF setup is different so I'll have to make a custom CAI. By the end of this week, it should have everything the 08 had. Gauges, headers, a new 3.5" Spintech Pro Street or Moroso Spiral Flow, and a nice little 92mm two stage setup. As far as looks, it'll get tinted tails, and black paint on stock wheels for the time being. This summer it will likely get a set of black Raceline aluminum 20s. Monday morning I'll tint the front windows to match the backs.

New truck is sweet, I had no idea they put the 6l80e in the 1/2 ton trucks now. That kicks ass, im jealous.... Serious question though, what gear ratio and how fast does it go in first? Not being a smart ass, really want to know...!

3.42 gears and 26 mph stock. The tune will obviously change that up a little, but not much. It shifts out of first at like 5700 RPM right now, which I do not like. I prefer to pull my shifts up around 6300-6400. My 08 with 3:73s had the 4l60 shifted out of first at 45 after tuning, shifting at 6100.

It doesn't suck so bad when you think about the fact that I got 22k out of that truck when it totaled. Minus deductible and tow bills = 20700. I had a nice down payment on the new one. Nice enough to keep my payments VERY close to what they were.
