    6.0 best cam/head 4 torque?

I just got a steal on a 6.0 and 4l80e im gonna be swappin into my 1994 z71 and this truck is everything but stock. Im going to be keeping it street legal with rockwells and 52" michelins so im definately looking into keeping this motor cammed for torque. Ive been looking into just getting a custom ground cam because I want a chopping idle and still keep my low rpm range. I was considering using Texas Speed and Perforance just buying a custom ground comp cam with .629" lift, 215 duration, and about 112 lobe separation. Do you think that will be a streetable cam without having any clearance problems with the stock pistons? The motor has very low miles so im just going to freshen up the bottom end and swap cams and do some head work. What would be the best direction to go with heads without breaking the bank? Sorry for all the questions this is my first LSx motor.

I've seen quite a few dyno number on the 6.0 with different cams and even with a monster cam I haven't seen them gain more than 15lbs of tq and the curve goes way up. What gears are you going with though. My brother built a few mud trucks and he was NEVER in the lowend while in the mud...he was always screaming away in 4hi bouncing though holes. But to answer your question the GMPP hot cam is about as big as I'd go for a 4x4 application.

hmmm gained almost 100 ft. lb. of tq. on a head and cam swap wonder if it was all in the heads?

Definately got the part right about loving the sound. Theres nothing that makes a motor sound more mean than a slow rough idle. And seeing how the rpms im gonna be running with my axles and tires i need power down low. Im not really one for a stall setup but I guess if worst case scenario i could just slide in like a 2200 stall just to make it launch even better. Its not like this truck is going to be a race truck, its going to be on the street everyday and see some mud too.

so with all the aside, whats still the best upgrade for heads on these motors? Keep in mind im gonna stick with a stock bottom end and probably not gonna be revving over 6 grand. Ive heard of some people swapping 5.3 heads onto the 6L.... whys that?

From what I've been seeing TQ is definately from the heads more so than a cam. I'm talking about the 6.0 truck motors specifically though. They're already pretty torquey from the factory.
