Thread: first startup with just manifolds

    first startup with just manifolds

Would it hurt anything to start the truck for the first time with just the manifolds on?

I need to drive it onto my trailer to take it and get exhaust ran.

    I'm getting close...

    thanks

If you mean just open headers, as long as they aren't leaking from the heads then sure... I fired mine up when I put the LT's on and open headers sound bad ass. I wouldn't go too far cause you would probably get pulled over, or the neighbors would lynch you!!!

I don't have headers yet, so it would be the manifolds.

I'm just going to run it long enough to pull it up on my trailer and shut it off.

    thanks, Kris

Won't hurt the engine at all, if thats your concern. When your new exhaust is on, the computer will simply relearn its fuel curve. If the exhaust shop isn't too far away, you can even drive it over there, just stay out of the throttle. Make sure the manifold exhaust isn't blowing right against anything important either.
