How much power can you get from a hp tune? What are some of the good and bad things about it? What is it compared to a nelson tune?

Nelson know how to use HP tuners and is very good (from what I here) if you dont know what youre doing you could have some real problems.
Nelson tune is just Allen using hp tuners. He is one of, if not the best, in Texas. He tuned mine and it made a world of difference. If you dont know what you are doing, you will have more than just a few problems... you could lean out the Air fuel ratio and kiss the engine goobye. or not set the shift points right and hurt performance. Or take away all torque managment when you have a stock tranny and upgraded servos= no more tranny, ask Cowl327.
If you want to tinker, I would suggest calling Allen and buying the hptuners from him. I am preety sure he could hook you up with a base tune to go off of. or at least get you in the right direction. here is his link FYI... Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability... Btw gains of 35hp have been seen along with -1 full second off 1/4 mile times.

IMO HPTuners is worth every penny. I have one my self just have not tried any motor tuning just tranny tuning.
The only thing with learning how to tune is make sure and research research research. You can jack things up real quick. Just the scanning sofware alone is worth it. Just be careful and go to the HPTuners forum and ask questions and lots of them. The people on the forums at HPTuners are a great bunch of people and can help out a lot, but they speak in tuner lingo so just ask and they will tell. I would hate to see you or anyone who is learning how to tune blow a motor by making a simple mistake which is not hard to do if you dont understand what you are doing.
