why do most 5.3/4.8 guys go with smaller(only a comparison to LS1's) cams like the 212/218 cams? ive never seen a truck with a bigger cam like 230/230? is it just coincidence most of em wanna retain gas mileage?
just curious?
and i agree with agriefs choice out of the cams mentioned.
Im running a 224/232-558-568 112LSA, but its in a 6.0. After some tuning from Allen it runs perfect.
Now that's what the hell I'm talking about, lol. A big cam (compared to most opinions) in a big ass truck

Your truck runs awesome, and I love how you put a big cam in your truck and didn't loose any power across the entire rpm range, most think this big cam would be slow in a big truck. Thanks for giving me the opp. to tune it. btw, email me some of those badass vids, you can show everyone how strong it is.
I've tuned quite a bit of trucks with very mild to aggressive cams, the one you mentioned is fairly small, are you concerned about having a tame daily driver?
How about a mid 500 lift cam, with something around 224. I've done a few of these cams, and if you weren't into trucks you would never know that it had a cam. It's very streetable.
That cam and a tune will give you about .5 secs in the 1/4, asking for more than that is not unreasonable. I tuned a truck with just an ls1 cam in a 99 truck with a tune, and went down to a 15.5 from a 16.1.
Thanks,
