Yep, on the way home this morning i had a noise coming from the rearend(kinda like something was kicking the back of the truck), so i went to the shop that just rebuild it 2 months ago, they told me that the axle was broken and the C clip was worn(whatever that means). I hope these guys know what their doing i dont want this to be a problem. With all the trouble some of you all have had with shops, its got me kinda worried. Anyways they told me it would be ready tonite so we'll see.

The c-clip is that annoying little invention of engineering stupidity where the axle is held in place by a dinky a$$ little c-clip. You can see how they hold them in if you look inside your diff ....that is if you have an open carrier. And what exactly broke? I don't know if you have a 10 or 12 bolt rear end in that thing but I know for a fact that it isn't a full floater. So ya should have been feeling more then a kick when she let go.

Damn, the truck wasnt ready today, they couldnt get the right axles. hey blown,,, yeah that sounds about right on the price. Dark Knight,, they said the axle was broken due to the bearing being fucked up or some other excuse they gave me, I just told them that they need to fix it and that if it was bad install on their part in the first place that they need to take of it. I hope this doesnt turn into something ugly.

man i feel your pain, it sucks to have a shop do work and they mess things up.
then blame it on you for abusing it.
    hope it all works out.

Depending on what bearing was f'd I would definitely be questioning their install. And after you get some miles on her ya really should check out the wear pattern on your ring and pinion.... or even do just a general inspection of the inards of your pumpkin..... JMO

Hey, I'll sell you my entire rear end for $400 bucks. I'm getting a Ford 9" anyways. If you do live in San Diego, I only live about 2 hours away, and would be able to meet you if your interested.
It's from a 2002 Silverado with 3.73 gears, and only about 15,000 miles or so on the entire rear end.
