So heres the dilemma. My buddy just got a fairly new Lotus Elise. He is driving it back from Dallas as we speak.

Here are some specs on the Elise.

2005 Lotus Elise
190 horsepower @ 7800rpms
138 torque @ 6800rpms
1.8 Liter 6spd
13.5 @ 102.9 mph

Most likely deadly from a highway punch.

I always enjoyed thinking that soon enough I am going to have the fastest vehicle out of the majority of my good friends. I.e. roommate has a fairly modded 350z that has is just as deadly on the freeway, nothing too special in the 1/4. The guy that has the lotus now used to have a full exhaust with intake Lexus IS300, and so forth. It bummed me out because now I am going to have to do more to just be able to keep up with the Lotus.

After speaking with my girlfriend about my friends Lotus, she of course denied me saying my truck wont be able to beat it. It always gets me pissed off because she basically is never on my side with anything.

I was trying to compare bluecajun5.3 to a Lotus. Seeing as how bluecajun is tearing down the track in a mid 12, how well is his top end with that 220 cam and 4.10 gears?

I love 1/4 mile runs dont get me wrong, but thats not the only place to race.

My mods in the beginning are going to be similar to cajuns. HOPEFULLY by the beginning months of next year I am going to have the trick front mount turbo installed on the truck.

Question is, with the Lotus and other cars being so deadly on the freeway. Can anyone reasonably guess what the truck will NOT be able to take from say a 20 OR 60 roll?

Here is a quick list on the mods soon to be on the truck.

ENGINE "5.3"
- trick front mount (a little while after I get the 5.3 into the truck)
- 5.3 stock exhaust manifolds (since headers arent really recommended with the FM)
- catless with exhaust being dumped right after the muffler. (not too sure on what im going with as far as brand)
-220 cam
-918 springs
-hardned pushrods
-Electric fans
-t-stat
- UD pulley
- bigger injectors of course (what ever is recommended with cam and turbo)
- nelson SD tune

TRANNY/REAREND
- FLT 65e
- 3200 stall
- b&m tranny cooler
- 4.10s
- slicks for the track.
- caltracs. (probably gonna need them)

It just makes me so frustrated when my girlfriend doubted me earlier. Now I just want to prove her wrong. Not in the sense of like "HA whatd I say? trucks faster. still love you babe " but more like "keep running your mouth hoe and see what happens, Ill embarrass these cars even more. shows how much you know faggot "

Thanks for the time to read this,

the biggest advantage the lotus has is power to weight ratio. as im sure u know, ur not always gonna be the fastest thing on the road, and ur driving a truck. comparing trucks to cars is very difficult and u shouldnt get so riled up by that s***. u know 4.10's will hurt ur top speed, so from a roll they dont give u that big of an advantage. she probably has no idea about cars and trucks, so thats just like someone saying yeah that honda civic is fast did u hear its exhaust? is it true? f*** no. but they say it just to argue with u some people do that s*** and i know it gets on ur nerves. ur gonna have a badass truck ducky, dont worry bout the little things.

I would go 3.73s or 3.42s....They will make your top speed higher...

Actually neither of those will help with top speed that much. You need to decide what you want hwy speed or 1/4 times. It's hard to have both.

ducky ill sell u some bad ass highway gears if u can find some 3.73's to trade me haha. im with danny tho, sadly with a 4 speed auto u cant have the best of both worlds most of the time. in order to have both ud most likely need one of the new 6 speed autos.

I know I can't have the best of both worlds, and the fact that theres always going to be a faster car, I just wanted to slim down that list of there being a faster car..

How well is a that 220 cam with 4.10s and a 3200stall going to work together? That is if I am not traction impaired? What about all that with boost?

It doesn't make me THAT mad when she says stuff like that, it just wants to make me prove her wrong. She didn't act like a know it all, but me and her have seen them in the past, and have commented on how cool those things look, and when your at a point where you know nothing about cars, cool looking cars compared to a truck in her eyes, will always look faster.

I guess I should just run this guy from a slow roll every chance I get....

F*** IT I'm buying an 06 ZO6.

You will want to load the turbo so I would say no lower than 3.73's. The turbo is your friend on the highway so you will be able to make a great run at him. You will never be the fastest thing out there so don't worry with that just be happy you have a faster than normal truck that can beat a bunch of fast cars.
