In preparation for a 402 and 122h Radix in a year or so I'm makeing changes to several things. One is the exhaust. I want dual exhaust to exit in front of both tires so I had to get rid of the stock gas tank and I'm having a new fuel cell built.

The stock tank has a 3 wire plug on the top that appears to be fuel tank pressure sensor. Under the sensor is a hole with a rubber grommett. I think this sensor is the one that throws a code if the gas cap is left off.

I know that not using this feature will cause a code to be thrown but will deleting this sensor cause the truck to not run or run w/reduced power or cause some other problem? I was told that sensor can be shut off in the tune but will it cause the truck to not run when it throws it's code.

The engine will run fine with the MIL light on and yes you can delete it with a tune. I just fixed a 2000 where the guy left the sensor unplugged when he changed out the gas tank. You'll be fine.

Deselect the SES Enable (if not done by default), and set the alert to 03 - No Error Reported, if using HPTuners. Everything will work fine, without problems.
