Thread: 2nd overdrive

    I was watching trucks one day and they put a second overdrive on a truck and it was controlled by a switch wired in the cab. Would it be possible to put a second overdrive on these 4l60e transmissions to reduce the RPM's on the highway. It connects between the transmission and the drive shaft.
    2004 EXC Silverado 6.2L
    Mods:
    6.2L L92, Ported and Polished stage 3 heads, 95mm Throttle Body, 100mm MAF, NA, Pacesetter LT Headers, Magnaflow X-Pipe Muffler, Electric Fans, 160* thermostat, 2" Drop Shackles, Hellwig Sway Bars Front and Rear, Monroe Reflex Shocks, NGK Spark Plugs, AMW Oil Catch Can, 17"x10" wheels on Kuhmo Tires.

    Yes, but the 60E already has a decent 30% OD. If you run a 55% OD in a truck you won't have enough grunt to keep going up a hill on stock type gearing.

    You'd need around a 4.56:1 or a 4.88:1 to take advantage.
