    All,

Anyone done this swap? I have the 2001 Sierra and was wanting to know if this swap is pretty much plug and play? Can I use the 4.8 wire harness and PCM? What about the accesories (AC, alternator, power steering etc... )

I definately will want to get tuning, but just so I can get back on the road ASAP (This is my daily driver) I want to make sure I can use the stock 4.8 tunning...

You can use everything from your 4.8. It will run with no problem but you will need some tuning to make it run strong. Farmtruc has done a couple of them.

ya, if you have decent mechanic skilz you should be able to easily accomplish this swap in a weekend, they usually take me about a day,

i'll keep you updated on the LQ9 swap im doing next weekend, and ext cab 4.8L --> 6.0L

everything will bolt up, no problem, it will even run, may even run good enuff for you to drive around and not worry about tuning for awhile, but like gmc said, tuning helps.

    good luck,

ya you can, you'll gain compression, but i bet you won't gain any power, i bet you loose power, smaller valves, and they don't flow as good as the ls1's.

I just bought a H.O. 6L '03, with heads, so a long block, and it was about mid $3K range.
You can find them cheaper on ebay but I recommend shaun over at smcperformance.com (how come he doesn't want to advertise here, lol)
He'll build you a "new" engine from new parts and they always come out great.

The ls1, you may be able to find you a long block from 800$ to 1500$ or maybe more, depending on miles and born date.

So what did you decide on?

    later,

    allen
