i have a 00 gmc sierra with the 5.3 auto

i live up in anchorage alaska
and the snow is starting to melt

i have my stock air box still in the truck
the problem im having is that im getting water into my air box thur the passager fender

the metal plate thats under the air box had water all over it last time i checked
the foam that connects the air box to the fender was soaking in water

and some days the truck will misfire and somedays its fine

when ever their is a lot of water on the roads the truck starts to misfire but
their is no codes in the computer

what can i do to stop the water from getting into my stock air box?
or should i get an aftermarket intake or just make my own air box to not let air come
from the fender on the passager side?

or should i block off the holes in the air box that goes to the fender and cut a new holes on the other side of the air box to let the air into the truck at someother place that isn't getting hit with water?
