My women just got an 02 Escalade. I know it has the 6.0 vortec, but the plastic cover says Vortec H.O. for cadillac. Anyone know the HP difference? or the HP of this motor?

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT BUT SHE LOOKED AT AN 03 AND IT HAD JUST THE REGULAR PLASTIC COVER THAT SAYS VORTEC AND THIS ONE HAS THE VORTEC 6.0 H.O. FOR CADILLAC ON IT.

If I'm not mistaken the Escalade changed engines between those years and also the 6.0 H.O. stands for High Output and has basically 45 more horsepower than a regular 6.0. The Silverado SS, Cadillac Escalade, 2500 HD's and some GMC's have the engine as an option and it is stock on the Escalade and SS as the only engine choice. I may be wrong about the horsepower but am 99.9% sure of the horsepower difference.
The Escalade, SS and the VHO's came with the LQ9. The 2500's came with the lower HP 6.0.
Check your RPO codes in the glove box and if it has the LQ9 code it is the 345HP engine.....
The Escalade comes with two engine options, the 6.0 HO LQ9 which is 345 hp, and the regular 5.3L.
