I think the only reason ford sells so well is because:

    1) Back in the day, old non-muscle car guys bought ford's and that following is strong and

    2) Ford if you just want something to drive and chevy for performance, but face it, there are a lot less performance guys than there are "average" people.

If i bought a ford, id buy stang, but it wouldn't be stock. Id have to stick a blown 347 stroker in it. Now, i dont think it would make wicked power, but a friend of my dads has a 67 stang running mid 10's in Tulsa on a 347 stoker, NA, no n20.

(for any of the tulsa ppl that goto the track, its a purple 67 with no hood and the firewall cut back for the motor.. )

I wouldn't buy a Ford any more. They have all this cheezy plastic like plastic accessory pulleys the get crappy gas milage and used to a v6 camero would beat a v8 mustang. I used to like Fords but they went wrong somewhere. GM is where all the technology is at now I think. Just my opinion.

    IMO,

Ford knows how to market thier cars. They have normal everyday cars that ppl want and they focus on that. Like you said, more average ppl than perf. ppl.
Whens that last time you saw a commercial for the SS or Firehawk. The last perf. commercial i saw was the Trans Am eating up that European car at the stoplight, that was like 8 years ago and they only played it a few times.

When you see a ford mudstain commercial it's like "The all new 2xx HP Rustang" blah blah blah. If chevy would do a commerical about the vette or z06 i bet they would sell more, well at least for the camaro it would have.
Everybody knows about the vette, but not everybody knows the camaro has the ls1, most ppl are like "really" when i tell them and "they can go that fast for 22K".

I think Pontiac will start to creep up in the performance market, although they need to go Rwd and cut that fwd stuff out, and start putting thier superchargers on all of them and market that.

I think the GTO is good, but they could have made it beefier.

I wish you could go into the dealer and buy a muscle car like the old days, I wish i was born back then. I'd order a RC Silver. with a 6.0L or something like that, 1/2 ton. There is a dealer or shop that is supposed to come out witha
    RC SS, we'll see.

    anyway,
    later,

    allen
