Cal Tracs. need input on how they work for you

can anyone tell me there experiences with a caltracs setup. I need traction and have a friend who has them on a nova, and they wor great. I was wondering how they work on silverados.

Whats the deal everyone recomends them, but no one has them or used them. come on give me you experiences with them.

I had them, Caltracs helped with wheel hop, the traction was horrible with or without them (with street tires), BUT, I've heard that with slicks its a different story, very hard launches.
The other thing i noticed was that with the caltracs, even when the tires are spinning the truck rides straight, and , without the caltracs the truck slides from side to side without any control.
