I learned the tips from LS1truck to do this conversion.
I'm the original owner of this 1989 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado. Standard cab, long bed.
Originally this truck came with a 305 V8, 5 Spd and had 3.08 gears.
The engine and transmission have been replaced with a 2000 5.7 aluminum LS1. The transmission is a 6 spd T56 that was originally mated to the engine. The engine had ~70k miles on it. I don't see many conversions with this combination.
Ceramic coated Schoenfeld headers (http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/)
Nelson wiring harness and programming.
The rear gears were changed from 3.08 to 4.10.
Passed emission tests in Oregon.
The hard work has been done. The body is straight and rust free. Probably needs fresh paint and finish the interior for a fun truck.
