4.8L to 1996 K1500 transmission,,, need some answers
Can anyone give me me the straight up on what I need to mate my 4.8L to my 1996 trans in my k1500,,, it is a 4l60e automatic.... I was told that the flexplate on my engine would work but once I lowered the engine into the bay and started to bolt up the trans to the block it's obvious there is some spacing issue that I am going to have to take care of....

Raptor transmission has a lot of info. on the 4l60e swaps on there web site. i think that you have to use the flat flex plate, part number ##36LS1. This LS1 SFI flexplate fits 1998 and newer F-bodies with LS1 engine as well as 1999 and newer GM trucks with 4.8L, 5.3L and 5.7L LS1 type engines.
good luck with your project.

I ended up using the Flexplate spacer from Summit... only issue after that is there is space between the flexplate and the torque convertor... close to 1/4 inch... I'll just put in some longer bolts and use washers to take up the space.....
