Alright, this may sound like a dumb question, but the "search" option will not allow you to search for a 3 letter term (i.e. egr). I was wondering what the pros and cons are for blocking off the EGR valve in my '02 Silvy would be? Will this cause any error codes or cause it to fail an emissions test?

yeah, it gives an instant service engine soon light. allen can make it dissapear faster than it appears though

its not really a performance mod, more of a peace of mind for me. i didnt like the idea of exhaust gasses being recirculated into my intake. the mod costed me a total of $12. you can get the intake blockoff from your local dealor and fab up your own header plate. i reused the headergasket without any problems.

next on the list for me is some kind of catch can, then ill take the truck up to my buddies at the dealorship and get them to clean the crap out of the top end.

    old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

    As I recall '02s don't have EGR.

Also, no performace gains with it's removal as it's off at WOT and you don't have exhaust pressure loss to deal with...

Yeah I think they did away with the EGR in '02. I bought a block off manifold and header plate from LS1speed.com for my '99. Have had no problems in driveability or performance from the removal. Cats are also gone....I only have one thing to say about emissions....... :flipoff:

Obviously you don't have the state looking to close at your emissions??? Sweet....
