    Custom a/c bracket suggestions for an OBS compressor on an LS motor

    Hey guys. I have a 1994 c1500 that had the old 4.3 V6 and have already dropped in the 5.3 in it. I am in the process of bolting on the accessories and using the 5.3 truck accessory bracket. I have the power steering and alternator taken care of. Now I am trying to get my older a/c compressor to be driven with the serpentine belt. I have a link below and I think it would work using the old 4.3 a/c bracket with a bit of modification. I would need an inexpensive way of doing it as I don't see myself spending $300 for an a/c bracket , which it outrageously overpriced, imo. Let me know what you guys did on your set up and what belt (or part number) you guys used thanks !!

    This idea definitely works. I did it on my 6.0 swap in my '93. I had to change a couple of the smaller idler pulleys for the belt to clear itself on the water pump. I did it as described and it fit like a glove. It also didn't affect my hoses as I've heard some aftermarket brackets do. It did require a small amount of tweaking of the round bar braces to get the belt alignment just right. Here's a pic of it in place.

    Its Miami !! Its hot and humid as hell down here 365 days a year 24/7. I will never drive a car or truck down here unless it has a/c, its a must.

    I used my stock bracket that I modified and have had it on my 5.3 for over 10,000 miles with no issues, I did mine exactly as the link you posted.... works fine for me

    I agree on having AC just use the new style that the 5.3l comes with.
