I guess I should add my goals/reasoning for certain decisions.
I am going for a mild DD build.
I want to hit 11s on the spray.
I want it to be bullet proof.
I want to tow without worry.

I only see one major problem. No turbo. U need a turbo, or 2. JFWU. At least it looks like u know what u want.

    4.8, TSP 220, 6L90 swap, 3400 Stall, 4.10s w/30" drag radial and T76 @ 16lbs.
    Best ET 11.54@114 w 1.52 60ft
    Raceweight 4905 lbs.

I am sure it will see a turbo build before all is said and done, but it is no where near ready for that just yet. Need to address all the weak links first. Between the stock 10bolt, slipping 60e, and tapping 4.8 valve train my truck is a ticking time bomb. It will turn into a weekend warrior/race toy one day.

More cam, smaller diameter and higher stall.

I was under the impression that in cases of heavy towing(5000+lbs) a larger diameter lower speed stall was better and the smaller cam is to accommodate the less expensive and more reliable ls6 springs. I know your truck is quite the capable vehicle, but in my case I would think adjustments would need to be made.

You can't live scared. There is nothing unreliable about double springs, you just have to be willing to check them every 20k miles or so. As far as a cam... That thing is a baby and not worth swapping in if you ask me. With a 5k budget you can buy some really nice parts for a 6l and stay in your price range.

How often do you actually tow? I tow our boat at least once a week. I'm hooked up to a mowing trailer(6k pounds) probably 3 days a week.

The trucool 40k, Is that the B&M name brand one??

I bought a 36k transmission cooler from JEGS for $99.99 free shipping, It has a large 12" fan on it as well. I hooked it up to an adjustable controller ($29.99 JEGS), which let's you adjust from 160-240 degrees. It works beautifully, just a suggestion. Here's a pic
