As simple as changing the stepper motor?

I recently upgraded to the OBS Escalade cluster, and everything works right, except the tach. I've been told its as easy as swapping the stepper motor from my old cluster. It doesn't really big me, but it'd be nice to have back. I was also told that its a lost cause since I have the 4.3 But the truck may be fixin to be rebuilt... But that's a different thread for in a few months. Any knowledge to help me get my tach back would be a big help. Ill see if I can get pics up tomorrow. Even tho every body has seen this cluster 10,000 times.

Racing is a real sport. Because football, baseball, soccer, and golf only require one ball.

More than likely it is the stepper motor.

    1) take cluster out
    2) take cluster apart, take off needles
    3) desolder the 4 pins on the motors and pull them off
    4) push new motors on and solder pins
    5) install cluster back
