Alright guys I need some help. I am getting ready to order parts for the tranny upgrade but the more I read the posts the more I get confused. This is what I plan on installing on my 01 ecsb silvy 5.3 4L60E:

    TGHD-2
    TG Sep plate
    Vette Servo
    OD Super Servo
    Sonnax Pinless Alum FWD Accum
    Sonnax Servo Release Check Valve
    Sonnax Fwd/Rev Abuse Bore Plugs

But I am totally confused as to which 1-2 & 3-4 alum accum to use. I read some threads that say to use pined and some that say pinless. I am not sure if the reason is different tranny (years) or because of certain brands of other parts or what. Please help. Also feel free to add any suggestions to this set up.

    Thanks.

It's a little confusing because GM diddled around w/ the accum pistons between the 93 and 94 model years.

    Here's the break down:

    - 1-2 Accum -
Must use pinned if using the TG HD-2. The TG kit has a special 2 spring setup in the 1-2 which won't work w/ the pinless.
For 1994 and up has a .230" pin diameter. The "small pin" type. This is the one you need for your '01.

    - 3-4 Accum -
Can go pinned or pinless w/ the TG HD-2.
Pinned type is the .308" pin size. Used in both 1-2 and 3-4 accum for years up to 1993. Only used in 3-4 accum for years 1994 and later. This is the one you want if staying pinned in the 3-4.
For pinless, the Sonnax 1-2,3-4 pinless will work w/ the HD-2.

    - Forward Accum -
You already got that one figured out

Your setup looks good. Are you going to try the "longer" Vette servo pin?

Unless running a higher than stock stall, be conservative when enlarging the VB plate feeder holes, especially the 1-2. You'll see what i mean once you get HD-2 kit.

I just consulted w/ Hit Man about using the TG 1-2 accum spacers w/ the Vette servo, which greatly affects firmness of the 1-2 shift. I've decided to take his advice and go w/ NO spacers. Will decide how to go more aggressive when upgrading to a higher stall TC at a later date.

I'm finally doing my tranny stuff next weekend (8/6) so will see how that works out.

    Good luck.

I too was going to upgrade to pinless (infact I still have them) and opted to just keep my GM pin'd aluminum units...

I figure by the time the stockers potentially have a hyd leak, I'd be near 200k mi...
