    Milled 243's and ptv?

I have a 2000 rcsb with a stock 5.3. I have a set of 243's on the way that I plan on milling .030 and I am in the process of cam shopping, was wondering what off the shelf cams are safe. I know measuring is the only sure way to know but I thought I might be able to get some ideas since this is a popular head swap. I was thinking something along the lines of a tr224 or the like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm running flat top pistons in a 5.3 that I bored to 5.7. Milled 241's .03 and I'm using a .041 gasket. I'm running a tsp228 cam with a .588 lift. No PTV issues.

Thanks for the input, I've settled on the tsp 224R. My other question is about pushrod length with this setup. I'm going to order the length checker with the cam kit and a couple sets of pushrods to make sure I have the correct ones on hand, what possible lengths could I need?

That cam uses stock length pushrods with unmilled heads. (7.400) So, math it out. You plan on milling heads .030, that'd give you a good starting point of 7.370 for pushrod length.

Order 7.35 and 7.375. it "should" be one of the two. I used 7.35 on mine and it works.

I had read that ls7 lifters affect pushrod length also - anyone know for sure?

    Milled .040 799's here, LS9 gasket, 218/218 60X lift, no problems.
