Thread: 6l80 tuning issue

    6l80 tuning issue

I just got my truck tuned and it has a 6.2 and a 6l80 Trans. This issue is the lag between gear changes. All he did was take torque Managment down to 0% and double the shifting pressure. Now it still takes to long to shift but when it does it hits. Some times between shifts it hits the rev limiter and shuts the truck down. Can any one help so I can tell my tunner what to change.

Never messed with that tranny but what about shift times? And doubling pressure doesn't sound healthy.

Adding shift pressure via the tune isn't the best way of going about things in a 60e, but idk much about the new 6speeds. Shift speeds can be adjusted as well shift points. I will say you need to be very careful at first when learning to tune.

I'm pretty sure I didn't tune yours and I'm hoping not lol. because if I were to tune it the trans would had a nice solid feel, no lag, and if you wanted to bark the tires thru all the gears....
Turning TM off is fine but If he's messing with pressure that's the wrong route.

I know what you are describing. The trans slips for a second then bangs into gear. Very typical of changing the wrong tables.
Put the pressure back to stock and enjoy the truck.
The stock feeling isn't the best but at least it won't have that slipping feeling. Btw it's not really slipping because I doubt that new trans will slip, the tuner needs to look at the shift times instead.

by no means am i trying to pull him in, lol, but thanks for the referral.

just trying to help and let him know that these transmissions can shift correctly.
it's never ending with these transmissions too, tons of tables and bs to sift thru to find the correct tables that respond how you want the trans to shift.
some of the tables don't even do exactly what the description says, or they kind of do, or at least they labels don't show that, lol.

By no means do i recommend such a hard shift, unless you absolutely don't care like a few of us, lmao.
but sleeper 2010 6speed shifts so hard (at least used to) at wot, the bed was contacting the cab and causing dents, lol.
hey, he loved it!!!! that's all that matter.
