Why are you adding an Autometer when you only need to change the dash pod and you will get the temp? All the parts are already installed, GM just wanted you to change the dash to an upgraded dash from a Denali or Escalade.

A lot easier than adding a new gauge.

I've been wondering about this myself. So the instrument cluster from an Escalade or Denali is a "bolt on", so to say, even for a Silverado?

In addition to physically installing, what's involved in calibrating the upgraded cluster?

It is my understanding that all you really need to do is have your vehicle's mileage programmed into it.

Plug-n-Play baby, Plug-n-Play... I paid $50 extra and faxed in a signed sheet and they had the new dash on my porch 2 days later. 15 minutes and 2 beers later I had an Escalade dash with no sticker and the correct mileage and hours programed in. Most of the 15 minutes was showing off to the neighbor. Not the white face but the navy blue faced platinum outlined with the trans temp. They have the Denali cluster that matches better but I love the outlined gauges. I did say I was out of town and the truck was in the garage when the new dash was being delivered.... Ya the cost is a chunk of change but the gauges match and it actually bacame an upgrade for the truck.

Man i didnt even bother programming the mileage in, when I get ready to do it I will just go to a speedo shop and let them program it. I ran it to 95,400 before I changed it so its easy for me to calculate actual mileage.

You know, how much extra does it really cost to make the Denali cluster over the standard Sierra/Silverado cluster? I have never understood why car companies equip cars with dummy lights instead of gauges. What's the price difference to the manufacturer, $3 each? I'd gladly have paid an extra $100 for a speedo that went to 120 and a tranny temp gauge instead of a stupid light.
